Two trading ships detained

 The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency has detained two trading ships and its crew members believed to be transferring oil dregs illegally near Pangkor Island.

A maritme officer said they discovered the illegal activity about three nautical miles from the island during a routine patrol at 11.15pm on Monday.

Twenty-four personnel from the two vessels – Klang-registered MT Nautica Muar and Indonesian vessel MT United X, have been arrested.
